"Mika Riipi is the County Governor of the Regional Council of Lapland. He started in this position on March 1, 2013. Previously he has been the Municipality Director in Posio (2006-2013), town secretary in Haapavesi (2004-2006), and senior adviser in the Municipality department at the Ministry of the Interior (2002-2004). Mr. Riipi holds a Master´s degree in Administrative Sciences, majoring in municipality jurisdiction. He graduated from the University of Tampere in 2002. Mr. Riipi is the Chair of the FEM Steering Committee"

Riikka Aaltonen, Senior Adviser, Mineral Policy, Enterprise and Innovation Department, Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment 

"M.Sc. Riikka Aaltonen has experience from Mining Authority both at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment and at The Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes). Prior to that she has a background in mining industry in Finland and Sweden."

"Tom Heldal is the Head of the Department of Georesources at the Geological Survey of Norway (NGU). The department works with identifying the potential of a whole range of mineral raw materials in Norway."

"Mr. Jokela has over 30 years of international experience in mineral exploration, geological research, and project and company management in different mining companies (Outokumpu Mining Oy, Polar Mining Oy, Store Norske Gull As, Northland Mines Oy and the Geological Survey of Finland).

Mr. Jokela joined Anglo American in the beginning of 2014. Since then he has been working as the Sakatti Project Manager and CEO of AA Sakatti Mining Oy. Mr. Jokela holds M.Sc. in Geology and Mineralogy, from the University of Turku, Finland."

"Kaj Lax is Head of the Mineral Resources Department at the Geological Survey of Sweden, SGU, Uppsala. He has a background in geochemistry, and as Head of the Mineral Information Office in Malå."

"Saija Luukkanen has worked as professor in mineral processing at Oulu Mining School, University of Oulu since 2015. To her current post she came from consulting company Pöyry where she worked in its Mining and Metals BU, both in Peru and Finland. During her career she has also worked for Geological Survey of Finland (GTK Mintec) as a group leader and for Lafarge (France) as project leader. Her background is in physical chemistry." 

 Dr. Sabina Strmic Palinkas, Associate Professor, Arctic University of Norway - University of Tromsø

"Sabina Strmic Palinkas is an associate professor in Ore geology/Mineral resources at UiT the Arctic University of Norway.

After receiving her PhD degree in Ore deposit geology from the University of Zagreb, Croatia, in 2009, she was working as a research fellow at the University of Auckland, New Zealand, and as an assistant professor at the University of Zagreb. In fall 2015 she joined University of Tromsø, where her main goal is to contribute to establishment of an internationally recognized research programs in ore geology/mineral resources.

Her area of expertise comprises aqueous and high-temperature geochemistry, geochemical/thermodynamic modeling, lithogeochemistry and applications of organic geochemistry and stable isotope systematics to ore-forming and environmental processes. During the past 15 years, she has been involved in studies of a wide spectrum of ore deposits, including epithermal, Carlin-type, hydrothermal-metasomatic, skarn, SEDEX, MVT and pegmatite deposits, as well as in several environmental studies."

Tiina Rajala, Development Director, Council of Oulu Region

"Tiina Rajala works as the development Director of the Council of the Oulu Region. She started in the post on 1.4.2014. Before She worked for five years as the Regional Director of the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health Oulu office (2008-2014). Her areas of responsibility included for example matters related to the mining sector such as work Safety and Occupational health. She was doing coordination between experts and authorities in mining operativies. Mrs. Rajala has previously studied at the University of Vaasa, majoring in public law and administration." 

 Raimo Turunen, Development Director, Regional Council of North Karelia

"Civil engineer/B.A. in Russian language and culture. Mr. Turunen has worked in many kind of tasks of regional developing in the Regional Council of North Karelia. He has been the Regional Development Manager since 2004. Mr. Turunen is responsible for the development and monitoring of implementation of extractive and mining industry under the Northern Karelia's regional development programs."

"Eero Vilhu has over 20 years of experience of regional planning. He works for the Regional Council of Kainuu where he is mainly responsible for project financing in the field of regional policy & development. His work is also related to EU communication issues concerning regional development and citizen participation.

Mr. Vilhu has been lately involved at some responsibilities in mining sector within the Regional Council of Kainuu. He holds a Master's Degree of Social Sciences from the University of East Finland 1992, majoring in Planning Geography."

Dr. Jouni Vuollo, Head of Unit, Geological Survey of Finland (GTK)

"Jouni Vuollo is Head of Unit, Regional Geodata and Interpretation at the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK). He is acting as chair of the IWG's EarthResourceML design task group from 08/2012 and also currently as a IUGC-CGI Council member.

More than 30 years experience on geological surveying and interpertation, 20 years GIS and data management at GTK, EU and globally, 8 years data modeling in geology (GeoSciML) and mineral resources (EarthResourceML) domains."
